Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin, fat, and muscle from the upper and/or lower eyelids. It is performed to correct droopy, puffy, or baggy eyelids that can make you look tired or, in severe cases, block your peripheral vision. This day surgery procedure restores a more alert, refreshed appearance while also improving visual function when heavy lids interfere with sight.
Cataract surgery is the safe, effective removal of your eye's clouded natural lens, which is then replaced with a clear artificial intraocular lens (IOL). Performed as a day surgery procedure, it is the only way to permanently restore vision lost to cataracts. We offer advanced technology IOLs that can also reduce your dependence on glasses for distance, near, or astigmatism correction.
When a blocked oil gland (chalazion) does not resolve with warm compresses or medication, surgical removal may be recommended. This in rooms procedure involves making a tiny incision on the inside or outside of the eyelid to drain the cyst and remove the hardened material. The result is a smooth, normal eyelid contour and relief from pressure related blurred vision.
Ectropion (outward turning eyelid) and entropion (inward turning eyelid) are corrected through precise eyelid surgery. The procedure tightens the eyelid muscles and tendons, repositioning the lid to rest properly against the eye. This relieves symptoms like chronic tearing, irritation, and the painful rubbing of eyelashes against the cornea (entropion), protecting your vision and restoring comfort.
Endoscopic DCR (dacryocystorhinostomy) is a minimally invasive procedure for blocked tear ducts that cause persistent, uncontrollable watering. Using a small endoscope passed through the nose, our surgeons create a new tear drainage pathway without any external skin incisions. This "scarless" technique offers faster recovery, less pain, and no visible scarring while effectively stopping chronic tearing.
An epiretinal membrane peel is a microsurgical procedure performed to remove scar like tissue that has formed on the surface of the retina, causing distorted or blurred vision. Using tiny instruments inserted through small ports in the eye, our retinal specialist gently peels away the membrane, allowing the retina to flatten and improving visual clarity over several months.
Eye socket (orbital) surgery addresses a range of conditions, including fractures, tumors, thyroid eye disease, and inflammatory disorders that cause pain, double vision, or bulging of the eye. Depending on your diagnosis, surgery may involve removing a tumor, decompressing the orbit to relieve pressure, or repairing fractured bones with implants. The goal is to restore normal eye position, movement, and function.
Eyelid cancer excision involves completely removing cancerous or precancerous lesions such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or melanoma while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. We often use specialised techniques like frozen section analysis to ensure clear margins. Once the cancer is fully removed, we perform precise reconstructive surgery to restore eyelid structure, function, and appearance.
Glaucoma surgery may be recommended when eye pressure cannot be adequately controlled with eye drops, laser treatment or other non-surgical options. The aim is to lower pressure inside the eye and reduce the risk of further damage to the optic nerve. Depending on the type and severity of glaucoma, surgery may involve a trabeculectomy, which creates a new drainage pathway; the insertion of a shunt tube to help drain fluid from the eye; or minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), which uses smaller devices or techniques to improve fluid drainage.
Intravitreal injections deliver powerful medication directly into the vitreous (gel like fluid) inside the eye. This targeted approach is used to treat conditions like wet macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusions. The procedure is quick, performed in the office with numbing drops, and can stop vision loss or even recover lost sight by reducing swelling and abnormal blood vessel growth.
We offer a variety of in rooms laser procedures to treat several eye conditions without the need for traditional surgery. For patients with glaucoma, selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) gently stimulates the eye's drainage system to lower pressure. For those who develop clouding of the capsule behind the lens after cataract surgery, YAG laser capsulotomy quickly restores clear vision. Both procedures require no incisions, and allow you to return to normal activities almost immediately.
Pterygium excision is the surgical removal of a fleshy, wedge shaped growth that starts on the white of the eye and extends onto the cornea. The procedure removes the abnormal tissue, and we typically use a conjunctival autograft (a small patch of healthy tissue from your own eye) to cover the area and prevent regrowth. This relieves irritation, redness, and restores a clear corneal surface for better vision.
Ptosis repair is a surgical procedure that lifts a drooping upper eyelid back to its normal height. The surgeon tightens the levator muscle, the muscle responsible for lifting the lid, or reattaches it to the eyelid. The surgery expands your field of vision (especially important for reading and driving) and creates a more symmetrical, alert appearance.
Retinal detachment repair is urgent surgery to reattach the retina to its underlying support layer, preventing permanent vision loss. Depending on the type and severity of the detachment, we may use pneumatic retinopexy (a gas bubble), scleral buckle (a silicone band), or vitrectomy (removal of vitreous gel). Prompt surgical intervention offers the best chance of recovering useful vision.
